[Review] Gal*Gun 2 (by YouNa)
Gal*Gun 2 is a gorgeous moe-action FPS game developed by INTI CREATES and published by PQube. As you may know, the Gal*Gun Series is famous for its fresh take on the FPS game genre. The Gal*Gun Series has become even more popular since Gal*Gun: Double Peace. Now its reputation has been brilliantly handed down to Gal*Gun 2. The graphics have been upgraded from previous ones and the newly added mechanics have made the game even better.
Gal*Gun 2 is interesting in many aspects. In the story, the player is a very ordinary high school student. One day, you notice that you have a strange app on your smartphone that you don't remember downloading. When you touch it, a cardboard box appears in front of your eyes. There are suspicious goggles and devices in the box. When you wear the goggles, an angel appears in front of you and says: "You have been chosen. Let us fight the demon together!" As you join together with this angel, you must defeat the devil girl who plays all kinds of jokes in the school.
I'll begin to introduce some notable features of this game. Your main weapon is the 'Demon Sweeper' sidearm. You can suck the cute demons from the girls with a well-placed pheromone shot. Next is the 'Doki-Doki' mode. This mode aims to combat as many of the mini-demons as possible within the target's body in the given time limit. In addition to the Doki-Doki mode, this game features a variety of fun activities such as a shooting stage, defense mission, exploration, boss battle and more. I'm sure one of these features will interest you. And now you can enjoy your happy academy life again and again as Gal*Gun 2 has multiple endings for lots of replayability.
Of course, there are some complaints about the Gal*Gun Series. These games do not hide their love for fan service. There may be people who are uncomfortable seeing so much of it. But the game is fully aware of the fan service and it shows indirectly the satire and self-reflection of these kinds of games today. We can already see some of this content in many of the games we have considered to be masterpieces. I think that this game is a different expression of it, but the essence is the same. Although what the developer says in the game may not be delivered to the players properly, I like these new approaches and methods. Considering these points, I actively recommend Gal*Gun Series.
